The Compagnie Irene K

The Compagnie Irene K. is a contemporary dance company which was created in 1977 by Irene Borguet-Kabusch who has been artistic director ever since. The choreographies are not narrative; the space opens in all directions, always revealing new constellations.

The human being, his desires, his fears, his visions are the starting point of the work. The company's dancers are professional dancers from different nationalities. Its style can be described as « Tanztheater ».



The music is especially composed for each new choreography, and is usually performed live. 

The Compagnie has developed a work in situ and proposes different performances in different spaces or buildings. The performance is made with a view on the place we are performing in to create a new vision of it.

The Compagnie Irene K. also regularly organises dance festivals, such as „Begegnung - Tanz und Industrie“ (Dance and Industry), which has become a regular fixture ever since 1995.   The Compagnie also organises the yearly „Tanzende Stadt“ (Dance in the City), not just in Eupen but across the entire Maas-Rhine region. 

The last field the company is very active in, is the pedagogical field.
On top of the dance lessons in her studios and the workshops organized in schools, the aim of the Compagnie Irene K. is to make children aware of art, movement and creativity in general.

The Compagnie has also had a base in Germany since 2001, and can be contacted there under the name of  „ArtSinn These e.V.“.
